So, what is this program all about?
Bring your own picnic and we can learn, connect, and dream together about the future. And yes, we’ll even have some cookies you can grab and eat…
With performances, mural painting, and conversations with the best poets, painters, and thinkers in our community.
Some things we’re considering:
•People used to gather at cemeteries in this way in the US (and still do all over the world).
•The people who literally built our community are buried in these cemeteries. Maybe we need inspiration on how to rebuild a community that works for all and learning about their lives could help a bit?
•Death is ever present right now so maybe we should directly address what that means with honesty and clarity?
•There are confederate Civil War memorials at cemeteries, as well as a section full of Union soldiers. Why?
•There are individuals buried in these grounds that have incredible stories we can learn from; about abolition, justice, war…..and more and more…
