More About This Program Series
Let’s explore issues of Forgiveness, Shame, and Repairing Harm in the Digital Age.
This will include guest “sermons”, videos, performances, some damn reading to do, and will be full of concrete actions we can take.
We’re going deeper than talk about R. Kelly, Aziz Ansari, Donald Trump and other celebrities.
-In what ways have institutions, governments, and corporations harmed us and not been accountable?
-How might they repair it? Can they? Should we shame them into changing? Forgive them?
-If we are interested in creating a community that reflects our moral values, perhaps even a community that reforms or eliminates the need for police and courts and prisons….what are we replacing them with and how do we do it in a world that is increasingly digital?
-What does it mean to “cancel” someone?
-Can you erase past mistakes? Who decides how? When?
-How do you repair the harm when you aren’t even sure who the “community” is on the internet?
-What does restorative justice look like in the digital age?
This program is for everyone: Recovering Catholics, “spiritual but not religious”, Jewish-Buddhists, Agnostic soccer players, Atheist jugglers, Mormon kite-fliers, whatever…We all need to converse about our moral values and what to do about them.
All of our programs are free (a $5 suggested donation helps with costs).
Childcare and interpretation available if requested.
