Regular candidate forums are boring, with pre-approved questions and a lot of blah blah. Not ours!
Politicians in the audience and comedians at the mic:
What could go wrong?!
Here are some reviews from our last one in 2015:
Current At-Large Councilwoman Debbie Ortega:
“The best election event ever. Educational, engaging, and a lot of fun. I give it five stars.”
Current District 6 Councilman Paul Kashmann:
“an outside the box, productive context to connect with and hear from my own Council District and across the city…and a great break from knocking doors!”
Former Candidate Ean Tafoya:
“one of the best election events of the year. What could be better then stepping out from behind the mic and actually building our city with residents?”
We’ve got millions of LEGOS, professional LEGO-builders, videos by Lockerpartners and Mo SPKX, comedians Andrew Orvedahl, Nathan Lund, and Janae Burris, we’ve invited every politician running for city-wide office in May to sit with you and share about their ideal vision for the community. Plus we’ll creatively go over what’s on the ballot and explore what it means to own our government.
This is the second in our year-long, monthly series using collectively owned aspects of the community as inspiration for programs that wrestle with questions about who owns what? why? and what can we do to extend the ownership?
Schools, Jails, Water, Public Transportation, Parks, etc are the themes. Each program is created by multiple artists, residents, and organizations.
All of our programs are free, with a $5 suggested donation to help with costs.
(childcare and interpretation is available if requested a few days prior)
And of course, we have delicious warm cookies:
traditional, vegan, and gluten-free.
